Ontario PC Government Fighting Back Against President Trump’s Latest Tariff Attack

President Trump has escalated his tariff attack on Canada, and Doug Ford and our Ontario PC team are fighting back to protect Ontario workers, businesses and their paycheques.

In response to the latest 50 per cent U.S. tariffs on Canadian imports, our Ontario PC government is expanding eligibility for the $1 billion Protect Ontario Financing Program to provide immediate relief to more tariff-impacted businesses and help keep workers on the job.

The expanded program will support businesses affected by the latest tariffs, as well as those continuing to face U.S. tariffs on steel, aluminum, copper and automotive products. It will help businesses manage mounting pressures, including payroll, lease and utility costs, so they can continue operating and protecting Ontario jobs.

This is part of our government’s broader $30 billion plan to protect Ontario workers and businesses from U.S. tariffs, which includes restricting U.S. alcohol from Ontario shelves, Buy Ontario procurement policies, support for tariff-impacted workers and businesses, and investments to strengthen our economy and critical supply chains.

President Trump’s unjustified tariffs threaten workers and businesses on both sides of the border, disrupt deeply integrated supply chains and raise costs for families and consumers.

As Canada works toward a fair deal with the United States, Doug Ford and our Ontario PC team will continue to stand up for Ontario, protect workers and their paycheques, and use every tool available to build the most competitive and resilient economy in the G7.

We will do whatever it takes to protect Ontario.
